Connection proxy (WhatsApp)
WhatGHL can route the WhatsApp session tunnel through a residential IP aligned with a country you choose. Agencies use this when the client’s numbers or geography should match the egress region (for example to reduce mismatches between where the business operates and where traffic appears to come from).
Where to configure
- Open Sub Accounts and select a sub-account (GHL location).
- Open the Connection tab (sometimes labeled alongside GHL link / proxy controls).
- Find Connection proxy (WhatsApp) — a control to pick the proxy country (or clear it to use the default path).
Saving applies to that sub-account only. After a change, the system may need a moment to move the tunnel; follow any on-screen success or error message.
Behaviour
- The setting chooses the country used for the residential proxy path that carries WhatsApp traffic for sessions under that sub-account.
- It is independent of GoHighLevel OAuth: you can be connected to GHL and still adjust proxy country for WhatsApp.
- Wrong or aggressive changes can affect delivery or session stability. Change it when your agency or WhatGHL support has agreed on a region strategy.
Good practices
- Align the country with where the WhatsApp number and customers are expected to operate.
- Avoid flipping regions repeatedly without a reason; treat it as an infrastructure choice, not a day-to-day toggle.
- If something breaks after a change, note the sub-account, session, and time, and contact your agency or support.
